Hera was born in Athens and for some reason she has studied a lot of things. For example Physics in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. After that, European Law and Policiesin the Economic University of Athens. Then,Telecommunication and Information Technologies in Athens Information Technology Center(where she was also employed as a researcher to work in the Optical Communications Systems and Networks Laboratory). That was a highlight in her professional life because she got to play with all the buttons of the LASERs and some km of optical fiber with some amazingly bright people. Next, she moved to Barcelona and worked with the Polytechnic University of Cataloniato finish her PhD in Optical Fiber Networks (co-operating again with amazingly smart people). And she stayed.

Meanwhile, she had done a little bit of gymnastics, dance, athletics, more dance, theater, painting and she had worked as a waitress, bar tender (yes, she knows how to make cocktails) math and physics private instructor.

Somewhere in the between, she learned French, English, very little Catalan and Spanish. She hopes she speaks Greek too. Oh yes – she obtained a sailing license at some point, which she is dying to use but hasn’t managed to do so in Catalonia yet. Sometimes she sails in Greece.

Mainly she works as a freelance researcher, project (FP7-H2020) manager and European project editor in several subjects like Big Data, Data transparency and biometrics, but occasionally she plays the role of the hosteler as well.

Honestly, she has no idea why she does all these things and she doesn’t just become a balloon to travel the world. Time will show.
