John is currently Clerk Maxwell Professor of Theoretical Physics at King’s College, University of London. His primary research concerns particle physics beyond the Standard Model, but he is also stray into related areas of high-energy astrophysics and cosmology.

John earned his PhD from King’s College, Cambridge, in theoretical (high-energy) particle physics in 1971. After brief post-doc positions at SLAC and Caltech, he joined to CERN in 1978. He was awarded the Maxwell Medal and the Paul Dirac Prize by the Institute of Physics in 1982 and 2005 respectively, and is an Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of London since 1985. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Southampton, and twice won the First Award in the Gravity Research Foundation essay competition.
Specific research topics include the Higgs boson (or whatever replaces it), searches for it at CERN’s LHC, and its possible connections with matter-antimatter asymmetry and the generation of matter in the Universe. Much of his research concerns supersymmetry and he has been working actively on searches for supersymmetric particles at the LHC and as astrophysical dark matter. He is also interested in models of quantum gravity and in the quest of possible experimental probes of such models, either in accelerator experiments or in high-energy astrophysics and cosmology

Mihalis is currently a Professor of Mathematics at Princeton University. He is also an associated faculty member of the Department of Physics and a member of the “General Relativity and Analysis at Princeton” Center.
Mihalis is also a member of the Relativity and Gravitation Group of the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (DAMTP) of the University of Cambridge, the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology, the Cambridge Centre for Analysis and the “General Relativity and Analysis at Princeton” Center.

He studied mathematics at Harvard University and was awarded a BA in 1997. His pursued his PhD thesis under the supervision of Demetrios Christodoulou at Princeton University. He has won the Adams Prize writing on the subject Differential Equations in 2004 and the Whitehead Prize in 2009 for “his work on the rigorous analysis of hyperbolic partial differential equations in general relativity.

(Born 17 April 1948) is an experimental particle physicist working at CERN. He is best known as one of the “founding fathers” of the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider together with a few other colleagues. He acted as spokesperson (project leader) of the ATLAS Collaboration until 2009.[Jenni was directly involved in the experimental work leading to the discoveries of the W and Z bosons in the 1980s and the Higgs boson in 2012.He is (co-)author of about 550 publications in scientific journals.Peter Jenni is frequently invited to give public lectures on experimental particle physics at the LHC. Jenni is well known for his efforts to involve also physicists from countries that are not CERN member states in the construction of the ATLAS experiment. As a Spokesperson he frequently interacted with scientists from all five continents as well as with many funding agencies and science authorities. Thanks to his efforts many universities and institutes from a wide variety of countries became members of the ATLAS Collaboration making it a truly international experiment. He often says that the biggest reward for him is to see how enthusiastic and motivated young people are about physics and he constantly tries to help future generations to get the same or even more opportunities in high energy physics. It is in this spirit that he, together with his ATLAS co-laureat of the Special Fundamental Physics Prize, Fabiola Gianotti, donated all prize money for educational and humanitarian purposes, and created the ATLAS PhD Award sponsoring PhD students.

From 1966-67 Herwig Franz Schopper was a research associate at CERN. He returned in 1970 as leader of the Nuclear Physics Division, and went on to become a member of the directorate responsible for the co-ordination of CERN’s experimental programme. Schopper became the Director-General of CERN in 1981.
