Miltiadis Konstantinou was born in 1952 in Kozani. He studied theology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and did special studies in the literature of the ancient peoples of Mesopotamia and Syria-Palestine in Tübingen, Germany. Since 1984 he teaches Old Testament and Biblical Hebrew Language at the Department of Theology of AUTH. He is a founding member of the Board of Greek Bible Society and in charge of the programme for the translation of the Old Testament in Modern Greek. He is also member of the Scientific Committee for the translation project of the United Biblical Companies worldwide.

Konstantinou was awarded by the Ecumenical Patriarchate with the honorary title of the “Teacher of the Gospel” while he is the delegate of the Greek church to the International Commission for the Angilcan-Orthodox dialogue.

Themis Tsalkatidis is a civil engineer. He completed his PhD in Civil Engineering in the laboratory of Steel and Composite Structures of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2008. Since 2009 he teaches as Lecturer in the Department of Architects.

Gerardo Herrera Corral is presently working at the Physics Department of CINVESTAV in Mexico. Herrera is one of the first experimental physicists in Mexico breaking with a long tradition that was giving emphasis mainly on theoretical physics. Back in the ’80s, the theorists’ community decided to support the development of experimental physics. Many young students moved abroad to work on experimental HEP. Gerardo pursued his PhD in Germany in the mid 80s and returned to Mexico in 1991 to join the CINVESTAV institute. Since then Gerardo has been very active in the field of High Energy Physics and played a key-role in the development of the HEP community both in Mexico but also in other Latin American Countries. Gerardo has been working with ALICE/CERN for the last 18 years. Moreover, he is actively involved in science communication and outreach in Mexico as well as in other Latin America countries and is often invited to give public lectures on topics of modern physics. He is the author of two books and of many articles popularising science published in newspapers and magazines around the world.

A CERN physicist who played a leading role in the development of heavy-ion physics; one of the hottest topics in physics related to the understanding of strong interactions and the evolution of matter after the Big Bang. Following his long career in fixed-targer experiments both in Europe and in the US, Emanuele had been elected as the first Chairperson of the ALICE Experiment at the LHC on 20.04.94.  He has a long standing commitment and many valuable contributions to the community of superlativistic heavy-ion physics combining an in-depth theoretical and experimental understanding of the field.

A Senior Lecturer in Sociology. His research is grounded in the sociology of culture, and his main research interests include the sociology of taste and aesthetic value, middle class culture and cultural globalization. Before arriving at Portsmouth in 2008, he worked as a Fellow in the department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He completed his doctorate at University of Sussex (2006), where he also taught a wide range of courses. Prior to that, he was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Postmodernism, Literature and Contemporary Culture (1996, Royal Holloway), and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology (1995, Portsmouth).

Ο Ντένης Ζαχαρόπουλος είναι ιστορικός και κριτικός της τέχνης, καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής του Μακεδονικού Μουσείου Σύγχρονης Τέχνης Θεσσαλονίκης. Σπούδασε σύγχρονη φιλολογία και αισθητική στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Αιξ-αν-Προβάνς, κοινωνιολογία της τέχνης και σημαντική των αναπαραστατικών συστημάτων στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Κοινωνικών Επιστημών στο Παρίσι. Ολοκλήρωσε το ανώτατο δίπλωμα κοινωνικών επιστημών με τον J. Cassou, το 1976. Μεταπτυχιακό στην ιστορία και θεωρία της τέχνης με τους L. Marin, H. Damish και G. Genette, το 1980. Παρακολούθησε συστηματικά το διδακτορικό σεμινάριο φιλοσοφίας και αισθητικής του L. Marin από το 1980 έως το 1985. Από το 1986 μέχρι το 1991 δίδαξε στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Εικαστικών Τεχνών της Γενεύης· από το 1986 μέχρι το 1993 στη Μεταπτυχιακή Σχολή του Εθνικού Κέντρου Σύγχρονης Τέχνης, “Le Magazin”, της Γκρενόμπλ· από το 1992 μέχρι το 1996 εκλέχτηκε ομότιμος καθηγητής της Ακαδημίας Καλών Τεχνών της Βιέννης και διευθυντής του Ινστιτούτου Σύγχρονης Τέχνης. Δίδαξε ως καθηγητής στο Μεταπτυχιακό της Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten, στο Άμστερνταμ, και ως έκτακτος καθηγητής στη Hochschulle fur Kunst und Gestaltung της Βέρνης. Από το 2002 διδάσκει ιστορία της τέχνης και μουσειολογία στο Τμήμα Πολιτισμικής Τεχνολογίας και Επικοινωνίας του Πανεπιστημίου του Αιγαίου, στη Μυτιλήνη και από το 2009 στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών.

Έχει διατελέσει: διευθυντής του Κέντρου Σύγχρονης Τέχνης και Πολιτισμού και Πάρκου Γλυπτικής, Domaine de Kerguehennec στη Βρετάνη, Γαλλία από το 1992-1999. Συν-διευθυντής της Documenta IX του Κάσσελ, 1992. Κομισάριος του Γαλλικού Περιπτέρου στη 48η Μπιενάλε της Βενετίας, 1999. Επιμελητής και οργανωτής πολυάριθμων εκθέσεων σε Μουσεία και Κέντρα Τέχνης στη Γαλλία, τη Γερμανία, την Ελβετία, την Ιταλία, την Ελλάδα, την Αυστρία, το Βέλγιο, την Ισπανία, την Ολλανδία, το Μαυροβούνιο και τις Η.Π.Α. Εκλέχτηκε Γενικός Επιθεωρητής Καλών Τεχνών του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού της Γαλλίας το 1999. Διατέλεσε σύνεδρο μέλος της επιτροπής διεθνούς πολιτιστικής πολιτικής του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών της Γαλλίας από το 1993 μέχρι το 1999. Από το 1987 μέχρι το 1989 συμμετείχε ως μέλος της Επιτροπής Εκθέσεων του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού της Ισπανίας. Έχει δώσει διαλέξεις και συμμετάσχει, διευθύνει και οργανώσει συνέδρια σε πολυάριθμα μουσεία, ιδρύματα και πανεπιστήμια στην Ευρώπη και την Αμερική.

A renowned international curator and one of the field’s pioneers in broadening contemporary art. Von Fürstenberg was one of the first curators to show an interest in non-European artists, thus opening the way for a multicultural approach in art. She is also a curator who took a more global and flexible approach to contemporary art exhibitions, in bringing art in spaces such as monasteries, medersas, large public buildings, squares, islands, parks, etc. Her objective is to give a larger context for visual art in making it a more vigorous part of our lives, in creating a more vivid dialogue for it with other arts, and relating it more to worldwide social issues. In 1994 she founded Arts for the World, an NGO associated with the UNDPI (United Nations Department of Public Information). Its mission is to create, through the universal language of art a meaningful and enduring dialogue among diverse peoples, cultures, and world views in order to encourage tolerance and solidarity and to foster education as a human right. ART for The World organizes exhibitions with the participation of artists from all over the world. These events are based on the ideals of human rights, dignity, freedom, peace and solidarity enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and proclaimed as fundamental values by the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
